how budget bestie works
Budget Bestie is cash stuffing on your iPhone. You stuff your money into envelopes when it comes in, record what you spend, and the app shows what is left in each envelope.
It does not connect to your bank. You record every expense, every bit of money in and every move between envelopes yourself; that friction is the point.
envelopes
Three kinds, all living in the app:
- Variable: everyday spending that changes, like groceries or eating out. You pick an amount each time you stuff.
- Fixed: a bill with an amount and a schedule. Money waits in it until you record the payment.
- Savings: money kept toward something, with a goal and a date if you want one. The app suggests how much to add each time you stuff so you reach it.
your stuffing day
You stuff on your pay schedule: every week, every second week, twice a month or once a month. The app suggests how much to stuff into each envelope from what you spent before and the bills coming up, so there is no math and no spreadsheet.
The next stuffing day is a reminder, not a deadline. If it passes, your envelopes carry on until you stuff again. Stuffing early is fine.
recording what happens
- Add a purchase in a few taps and watch the envelope update.
- Record money in and stuff it straight away, or leave it ready to stuff.
- Move money between envelopes when life happens. Your total stays the same.
- A quick record widget on your home screen shows what is left in your favourite envelopes.
bills and reminders
Set up a recurring bill once. Money for it waits in a fixed envelope, the calendar shows when it is due, and the app sends you a notification when you have not recorded paying it, so late fees stop sneaking up.
the overview
A calendar of your month: stuffing days, upcoming bills, and a gold star on every spend-free day. Below it, money in and money out for the period.
your account
Sign in with Apple, Google or an email address. Your budget is synced to your account, so a new phone brings it back. You can delete your account and all of its data from settings at any time.
Budget Bestie runs on iPhone with iOS 16 or later.
