our story: from idea to launch

Our app launched on March 8, 2024, can you believe it’s been 7 months already?! WOW! What a journey it has been from the planning and developing stages to launching to now. I’m going to fill you in on everything.
introduction
Let me start off by introducing myself. Hi, I’m Sasha, one half of the brother-sister duo that co-founded this app. As someone who openly shares my cash-stuffing journey on social media as ‘CDN Girl Cash Stuffer,' I have received many comments from people who love the principles of cash stuffing but don’t use cash. My brother, Jeremy, and I took the idea for an app and turned it into what is now Budget Bestie. It’s been over a year and a half since we dove into this adventure. We’ve put in so much effort—programming, setting up our business, marketing, gathering feedback, launching, and constantly updating and improving the app (and we’re not done yet!).
launch and early success
As mentioned, we officially launched on March 8 in Canada & the U.S., and within the first 24 hours we had over 1,000 downloads! That completely blew us away. Within that first day we also reached #18 in the finance charts on the App Store—absolutely mind-blowing! Achieving these numbers was all thanks to the incredible support from our users. It’s been a huge learning curve for us, considering neither of us had launched an app before. We’ve received so much valuable feedback from our users, which has given us a good view of how the app is being used and how we can further improve.
Budget Bestie is unlike other budgeting apps because it allows you to budget according to your own pay schedule. Instead of creating a monthly budget based on anticipated income, you're creating your budget based on actual income you've received and on your own budget schedule. Once your budget is set for the period, you then track all your transactions as you go. This keeps you accountable and gives you a clear idea of where your money is going.
Additionally, our app is intentionally unlinked from your bank accounts. This choice is meant to encourage mindfulness with each transaction, as you manually record each expense (which is quick and easy, we promise!). We believe that staying present and aware of your spending habits is crucial for effective budgeting.
Our goal is to make budgeting easy and give you the tools to take charge of your finances confidently.
current progress and user feedback
Since launching, the response has been phenomenal. We've surpassed 57,000 downloads, an achievement we're really proud of! The positive feedback and testimonials from our users have been heartwarming. Here's what some of them had to say:
