Budget Bestie is a popular iOS budgeting app focused on making budgeting easy for everyone.
We're a small team looking for our first designer to work alongside us from our Westmount office. As an early hire, you'll have high ownership and real impact. We move fast, ship often, and don't have meetings about meetings.
the role
You'll own how Budget Bestie looks, feels, and works for users. This means talking to users, finding friction, designing solutions, and making the app feel polished. You'll have real input on what we build, not just how it looks.
what you'll do:
- Talk to users regularly - interviews, usability tests, surveys
- Identify where users drop off or get stuck and design solutions
- Own the visual design - make the app look and feel premium
- Build and maintain a design system for consistency
- Collaborate with the founder and engineer to ship improvements
- Contribute product ideas based on what you learn from users
you
- 4+ years as a product designer, ideally at a startup
- Can run user research - interviews, usability tests, surveys
- Strong visual design skills - you care about polish and detail
- Think in terms of user outcomes, not just screens
- Comfortable using AI tools in your workflow
- Want to work in-person daily from our Westmount office
- Based in Edmonton or willing to relocate
